Google Buzz Launch Leaves Me Half Satisfied

by Vlatte on February 9, 2010

Mobile Buzz Home Screen IconA little after 10 am PST I watched Google announce the launching of Google Buzz. It sounded pretty interesting and just after 11 am I opened the Safari browser on my iPhone and launched buzz.google.com where my Google Apps email was recognized and I was able to log in. I saved that web page to my home screen and felt like I was on the cutting edge.

However, they indicated that Gmail users would be noticing a Buzz link appearing soon in Gmail, but said that corporate business users would have to wait because they weren’t ready to roll it out to them just yet.

Google Apps Gets Left Behind

Since I have my own domain and use Google Apps instead of Gmail, I feared that the delay might extend to me. However since I was able to get Google Buzz on my iPhone and it was integrated with my Google Apps account I felt hopeful that I wasn’t considered a “corporate business client.”

Then I checked the Official Google Blog and the Google Apps Blog, which both clearly stated the same thing:

We’re still working on some features to make Buzz work well for businesses and schools, so it isn’t yet available in Google Apps, but stay tuned.

Rats! Foiled again. Now I have less than half of the Google Buzz functionality.

What is Google Buzz?

Well that’s a good question. It seems to be a combination of things and instead of reiterating or paraphrasing I’ll just show you in Google’s own YouTube videos.
